Let's Take Back Congress Fundraiser – A Tremendous Success!
Thank You!
Our Let's Take Back Congress fundraiser on Saturday, September 30 at the Albatross Pub in Berkeley was a huge success! The event raised a significant amount of money for both Charlie Brown and Jerry McNerney.
Featured guest Pete McCloskey gave a powerful introduction to the candidates and the upbeat music provided by THE FLUX helped set the tone for the afternoon!
We want to thank you all for your generosity, which will go a long way to defeat entrenched Republicans Pombo and Doolittle.
Please continue your support to Take Back Congress.

1. Defeat Pombo Day of Action #2 (Sat, Oct 7)
Once again, Progressive Democrats of the East Bay are joining forces with Defenders of Wildlife to defeat Richard Pombo. From the Defenders of Wildlife promotion for this event:
On Saturday, September 16, 154 of you showed up to canvass nearly 10,000 households in Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Stockton. We worked well as a team, so let’s make it bigger, better, and even more effective in putting the squeeze on Pombo on the second “Defeat Pombo Day of Action” on Saturday, October 7.
Our goal for October 7 is 250 – yes, two hundred fifty – volunteers to canvass more than 15,000 households in Tracy and in the Tri-Valley. How you can help to reach this 250 is easy: Come (or come back) and bring a friend! If even two-thirds of you who joined us on September 16 bring just one other person with you, we’ll already have 200 persons for October 7.
Tri-Valley: Meet 10:00 AM at Civic Park, 100 Main Street, Pleasanton, CA 94566
Tracy: Meet 10:30 AM at Gaili Park, 1900 Orchard Parkway, Tracy, CA 95377
The San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Cruz, and Palo Alto buses will go directly to the Tri-Valley location.
The Berkeley and Oakland buses will go directly to Tracy location.
The details, including the RSVP form, for the October 7 Defeat Pombo Day of Action #2 is posted on www.pombointheirpocket.org.

2. Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers: Special Screening October 20
Please join us for a special screening of the Robert Greenwald film, Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers on Friday evening, October 20. Progressive Democrats of the East Bay and the Berkeley Fellowship Unitarian – Universalist Social Justice Committee are co-hosting this screening. From the film website:
The story of what happens to everyday Americans when corporations go to war.
Acclaimed director Robert Greenwald (Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, Outfoxed, and Uncovered) takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. Iraq for Sale uncovers the connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq and the decision makers who allow them to do so.
We expect a full house for this screening, so please RSVP to reserve a seat.
