Emergency Action for March 13, 2006
We've just learned of the following events regarding voting machines in Alameda County. Your help is needed to keep Diebold out of Alameda county.
SAY YES TO OPEN ELECTIONS (Mon, Mar 13)
The registrar of voters is proposing that Alameda County start negotiating with Diebold and Sequoia to purchase voting machines from one of the two corporations. Both of these systems are hackable. Both use secret code, tested in secret, reviewed in secret, and certified in secret.
Both Diebold and Sequoia use the same DRE design with a cumbersome roll of paper for audit trails to make it hard to check our votes.
It's illegal! It's fraud! It's a $17.8 million dollar scam!
Alameda should stand proud with patriots in New York, Connecticut, Maryland, New Mexico, and Leon County, FL, and say:
NO to machines that count our votes in secret !
YES to paper ballots, hand counting, real audits, cheaper solutions and open machines !
The Board of Supervisors is holding a special hearing Monday evening on voting machines and the registrar of voters. LET'S PACK THE SUPERVISORS' CHAMBERS!
