Progressive Democrats - East Bay Newsletter for October 8, 2005
Welcome to the October 8, 2005 edition of the Progressive Democrats of the East Bay Newsletter. In this newsletter, there are three items of particular interest I would like to point out.
-
The "If You Only Have Time To Do One Thing..." item provides an easy way for you to support the anti-war movement. A donation of $25 dollars from each of our members can help increase the visibility of an antiwar message being published in various local newspapers.
-
The first featured item highlights an exciting event hosted by our Media Reform Group on Tuesday, October 11. If you are interested in Media Reform, you should check this out.
-
The second featured item is a call for volunteers to help leaflet against Arnold's agenda in the special election. If you can help for a few hours in this activity, please contact us.
Thanks to all for your support!
Vince (PD-East Bay List Administrator)

Support Ad Sponsored by WDRC and Others to End The War (Act by Oct 12)
The catastrophe on the Gulf Coast has forced all of us to reflect upon the direction our country is taking. We have got to end this disastrous war in Iraq and begin to address our nation's pressing needs.
Join us in our support of the Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club as they launch a newspaper ad campaign in support of House Joint Resolution 55 - co-sponsored by our own East Bay Representatives Barbara Lee, George Miller, and Pete Stark. H. J. Res. 55 sets a timetable for troop withdrawal.
The ad will appear in the Oakland Tribune, Contra Costa Times, Tri Valley Herald, Hayward Daily Review, Fremont Argus, and a number of other East Bay newspapers. It will run in mid-October.
Please read the ad, and if you agree with it, join your name with ours in a show of public support for ending this senseless war. Get your friends and colleagues to join.
Your support is needed by Oct 12.

Senator Dayton introduces Department of Peace legislation in the Senate (Act Now)
On September 22nd, 2005, Senator Mark Dayton (D-MN) introduced the Department of Peace legislation into the U.S. Senate (S. 1756), calling for an elevation of the Reagan-established "Institute of Peace" to a Cabinet-level position.
This is a huge moment for our campaign, and for the future of the Department of Peace! Senator Dayton's leadership and enthusiastic support will take us to the next level in our work as we continue to advocate for this historic legislation.
CALL SENATORS BOXER AND FEINSTEIN
We ask that each of you help continue this momentum by calling Senator Boxer and Senator Feinstein today and urging them to support this bill (S. 1756). Contact your Senator at the U.S. capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121.
