1. PD - East Bay web site, calendar, and newsletter.

Welcome to the first announcement newsletter for PD - East Bay. This newsletter will be used to announce events and activities of interest to PD - East Bay members and PD - East Bay action groups.

The PD - East Bay web site at http://www.PDEastBay.org is still under construction. It contains a subscription page and a prototype for a calendar of events. Check this web site regularly for information about PD - East Bay.

2. March with PDA: Anti-war action on Saturday, March 19.

Join with the A.N.S.W.E.R.Coalition and the World Community to protest the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. The Progressive Democrats of America will march together under the PDA banner.

Meet at Dolores Park in San Francisco at 11:00 AM. We will gather together at the top of the hill. Look for the PDA banner. The closest BART Station is 16th Street.

Please wear red and bring signs of your choice.

We will have an informational table at Civic Center at the end of the march.

All are welcome!


3. PD - East Bay steering committee meeting on Wednesday, March 16.

The next steering committee meeting for PD - East Bay will be Wednesday, Mar 16 at 7:00 PM at the following address:

4. Write to Senator Jackie Speier to move SB 840 out of her committee.

Health Care for All Californians bill, SB 840, has come up to its first obstacle. It is currently being considered in the Insurance Committee headed by Sen. Jackie Speier. If the bill does not pass out of committee the bill will be dead.

6. Coordination with Wellstone Democratic Club on Social Security

The Social Security action group of PD - East Bay is working with the Wellstone Democratic Club to have a large, coordinated effort of house parties, speaker training, and tabling around social security issues.

Come to a Social Security committee meeting of the Wellstone Club to learn and help plan these upcoming actions.
