“We believe that the greatest need of our nation is to redirect the resources of our government from destruction to creation, from war to peace, from military spending to social spending, from sickness to health, from selfish desires to universal needs. Support Affordable Healthcare
Table for SB840

SB 840, the California Universal Healthcare Act, might well be the civil rights issue of the 21st century. Voters need to know about this bill which is universal, affordable, and cheaper health care for all Californians.

The defeat of the Schwarzenegger/Nunez healthcare scheme is good news. It was a very bad plan. Its failure allows us to focus on a plan that will work for everyone.

Help raise awareness that SB 840 is a solution and is politically viable.
Sign up for a few hours of handing out fact sheets and raising awareness for a real solution to the healthcare problem. There is tabling going on throughout the area. Materials are available. Others will join you.

The healthcare issue is high on voters' priority lists yet there is a virtual news blackout on Sheila Kuehl's single payer bill. Remembering that the media are corporate entities explains their reluctance to replace current for-profit insurance plans and control drug costs.

SB840 passed both houses in Sacramento only to be vetoed by the Governor. It has currently passed the Senate and Assembly and fiscal issues are being fine-tuned It will probably require a massive citizens' movement to avoid yet another veto.

Due to the media blackout, many people do not know that this bill is alive. Nor do many understand the public/private nature of the bill. This is why we need your help.

Because of scheduling problems, we had to cancel his appearance. The Alameda Public Affairs Forum provides another opportunity to hear this excellent speaker.
